I’ve managed to get:

Rebel Scout Speeder #7668 which includes a small speeder craft and for rebel soldiers. These rebels are, I think my favourite minifig so far. This image shows how cool they are:

That brings my total rebels to 5. Not quite an army, but should be good for some photo set ups.

Imperial Dropship #7667 which has 3 storm trooper minifigs and a dark trooper (I think that’s what it’s called) which is basically a black storm trooper plus a little craft. No pictures of that yet either I’m afraid.

Finally, for this post anyway, I picked up Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter #7669 which includes R2-D2 and Anakin with brown wavy hair. The fighter is pretty cool, although I’m not too sure about the amount of detail on Anakin’s head. I think there is just a bit too much and just doesn’t look LEGO enough, but I’m sure I’ll cope.

Anyway, more collection updates soon with more pictures too.

The whole set is called the Dwarves’ Mine and it’s set #7036. It’s a fairly big set and has a lot going on. I’ll post more about it when I’ve taken a few more photos, but as you can see from the picture above, the detail is great and the dwarf mini figures look great with a variety of beards and helmets.

As I was in the mood, I also got the Troll Assault Wagon #7038 which goes well with the Dwarf Mine set. More pictures will be along soon.

I think I am getting addicted to LEGO again……… and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

It’s kit number 7622 for those that are interested, and includes Indiana Jones™ on a white horse, a 6 wheeled truck with driver and chest of treasure and a jeep with a machine gun.

It’s been a while since I’ve bought a LEGO kit and followed the instructions building it, but it was a welcome break from building web sites.

Kits have moved a bit since the days when I used to build them, and the detail is now excellent. The mudguards and grills on the vehicles really make them look the part.

So, LEGO has been around for 50 years and it’s still going strong, there aren’t many toys that can say the same thing. For me, being a thirty something year old, LEGO was a part of my childhood from an early age with the big chunky DUPLO blocks which were too big to fit in my mouth back then (I was young) then onto the more traditional LEGO including the town and space sets. Then progressing to TECHNIC and building vehicles with working steering and other features.

A few years passed after that but then LEGO Star Wars came along and rekindled my interest, with minifigs being the main focus of my LEGO craze.

It just goes to prove that what is a very simple idea, simple building blocks, can become a globally recognised, iconic brand that translates to any language.

I shall raise a beer to LEGO, as I hope you all will (if you are old enough to drink it of course) and wish them another 50 years of success. Hopefully I’ll still be around to celebrate the 100th birthday. Who knows what type of LEGO kits will be available then.

Then came LEGO Star Wars II which is pretty much the same thing, but based on Episode IV, V & VI with characters like Luke, Han and Princess Leia.

Recently a new game has been released that joins the two together and brings a few additional levels to the game, and best of all, if you play it on the Nintendo Wii, you get to use the light saber by waving your Wii remote around. For any Star Wars fan, that has got to be a reason for buying it! Oh, it’s called LEGO Star Wars Complete Saga.

So that’s Star Wars covered, but what else is there? I was also browsing through Brothers Brick again and saw them mention some screen grabs from a LEGO Batman game. My eyes lit up as it looks just as cool as the Star Wars games, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for any more news on that one.

I’m hoping the new Indiana Jones sets spark off plans for an Indy game too, and looking at the Lucasarts web site, this may not be too far away.

I have nearly completed my Batman themed figures, with only Mr Freeze to get as far as I can see. Most have the magnets in the legs but that doesn’t really bother me at all.

My Star Wars collection is growing slowly, although the figures I have left are some of the more expensive ones on ebay. Figures like Yoda, Darth Sideous (might have spelt that wrong), some of the Han Solo variations and others meaning that I’ll have to save up my pennies a bit more and look out for some good deals.

I have a few Spiderman themed figures now, but I haven’t really checked what figures are left to get here. A LEGO Spiderman figure was one of the first figures I got after deciding I would collect them, and as you can see, along with Boba Fett, forms part of the header graphic on this site.

I have various other themed figures, knights, samurai etc but there are a few themes that I really want to start collecting, but as yet have none. These are the new Indiana Jones sets, the Viking sets and the Castle series with the dwarfs and trolls.

My mini figure collection currently stands at about 210, but there are plenty I haven’t got, and several that I need to replace as they are either in poor condition or are hybrids that aren’t quite as they should be.

If you have any LEGO mini figures to sell and want them to go to a good home, please let me know.

Do any of you have complete sets, and if so, how do you check that you have them all. Are there any lists, books or web sites that have complete listings of available mini figures? I’d like to see them if there are.

Santa was good to me and I got a few bits and pieces, and some LEGO too. I got a small LEGO Star Wars set with some droids in it, so I’ll be adding the droids to my photo catalog very soon.

I have also just got an email from the LEGO Store saying that the Indiana Jones themed sets are now available, and as luck would have it they supplied a nice banner to link straight to them, so if you want to check them out, just click through on the Indiana Jones banner at the top of this page. Might even get the credit card out myself!

I also made a New Year’s Resolution to update this site more regularly. As it’s for any mini figure, not just LEGO, I’ll be trying to cover a few other options, some may be a bit retro such as Transformers (great film!!) or others may be other popular mini figures like Warhammer, although I confess to not knowing a great deal about Warhammer… is White Dwarf still being printed?

Anyway, for those that celebrate it, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and get lots of mini figures in your Christmas stocking. I’m hoping to get a few.

You can see some similar pieces found in other kits, and some new ones too. Indiana’s hat looks pretty cool and I’ve not seen the satchel bags before, but then I’m still fairly new to the whole minifig scene.

I can’t wait for this and other Indiana Jones sets to become available!

There is also another version of the young Anakin Skywalker figure with a brown crash helmet, from the Naboo fighter scene when he ends up flying a Naboo fighter and blowing up the droid control ship.
