R2-Q5 Astromech Droid
Posted on | July 27, 2010 | No Comments
The R2-Q5 Astromech Droid was in the same R2 series that R2-D2 was in hence their similar appearance. The R2-Q5 droid worked primarily on the Death Star and is often thought of as the evil version of R2-D2.
The R2-Q5 Droid carried tools for fixing Starships as well as gadgets for more secretive roles such as spying equipment.
As a minifigure, there’s not a great deal too it but it’s not a hugely common piece so worth adding to the collection.
AT-ST Driver
Posted on | July 25, 2010 | No Comments
AT-ST Drivers, also known as Imperial Army Pilots, were the people who controlled the AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport), the two legged machines that featured in The Return of the Jedi during the Battle on Endor.
They worked as a team of two for each AT-ST. As you can see from this minifigure, they weren’t heavily armoured apart form the rather excessive black helmet and some light armour under their uniform.
I currently own two AT-ST sets, one came with the large Battle on Endor set that also has several Scout Troopers and speeder bikes. These will feature later when I review some of the Star Wars sets that I own.

Princess Leia on Hoth
Posted on | July 23, 2010 | No Comments
Leia was the younger twin sister of Luke Skywalker, adopted by Bail Organa and Queen Breha of Alderaan shortly after her birth. Starting off as a politician before discovering her family past, she went on to become Leia Organa Solo after hooking up with Han Solo and having three children. She learnt the ways of the force and fought as a Jedi Knight of the New Jedi Order.
Leia appears in many LEGO sets in different outfits and looks. This one has the well known danish pastry hair style that Leia is famous for and she is wearing the outfit from Hoth before the Imperial Army attacked the Hoth Rebel Base with AT-ATs.

Thi-Sen
Posted on | July 21, 2010 | No Comments
Thi-Sen is a character from the Clone Wars and is a tribal leader of a group of Talz on the planet of Orto Plutonia that were attacked by battle droids. Anakin Skywalker led a team of clone troopers to protect the Talz but were turned on by the Talz resulting in many deaths.
The LEGO minifigure is a relatively new one in a set that comes with Anakin Skywalker who is wearing clothing very similar to Han Solo on Hoth. The main moulding of the figure forms the main character with a bog standard LEGO minifigure body underneath. A good one for the collection though as I doubt it will be found in many sets.

Shock Trooper
Posted on | July 19, 2010 | No Comments
Shock Troopers were the police force of Coruscant rather than military personnel and were the first clone troopers to get the name ‘Storm Trooper’. The red markings on the armour were the distinguishing features of a Shock Trooper and they were seen to accompany the Supreme Chancellor/Emperor in various parts of the Star Wars films.
As a LEGO minifigure, they are very similar to the all white Storm Trooper except for the red markings. Once again, like some of my other minifigures, I am planning to get a few of these in my collection for future photographic adventures.

Rotta

Rotta is Jabba’s son. Also known as ‘Stinky’ by Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker as they had to rescue it in the Clone Wars series when it was kidnapped by Asajj Ventress.
This has got to be one of the smallest minifigures I have and with no moving parts there isn’t really a great deal to it. It actually looks quite like Slimer in Ghostbusters so you never know, there might be a few photo opportunities with this little character.

Minifigure Series 1 Clown
Posted on | June 21, 2010 | 2 Comments

This has to be one of my favourite minifigures from LEGO so far. Apologies if you are a bit Coulrophobic (fear of clowns) but I expect I’ll be creating more images using this figure in the future. He might even get to meet Darth Vader… who knows.
Minifigure Series 1 Caveman
Posted on | June 19, 2010 | No Comments
The caveman is another great little minifigure in the series 1 collection. I’m really happy with the range of minifigs that are available in this series of 16 figures. I am already looking forward to further series of minifigures.
This minifig has a one piece hair and beard which I can see me using on other figures when recreating various scenes for photos. I already have some ideas for another range of stickers. More on that another time.
Minifigure Series 1 Crash Test Dummy

Another cool minifig from the Minifigure Series 1 set is the Crash Test Dummy. A simple design, but I can see this being used in a lot of image creations from various people on Flickr and other photo sharing sites.
It comes with a number plate too, but I thought that was a bit pointless so didn’t include it in the image.

Minifigure Series 1 Cheerleader
Posted on | June 15, 2010 | No Comments
Another from the new series of minifigures from LEGO is the Cheerleader. Once again I’m impressed by the detail, the pom poms are a great accessory too.
Of course, she is cheering for team minifigure judging by the M on her vest.
