LEGO 365 Photo Project
Posted on | April 16, 2011 | 2 Comments |
While most of my posts are about my LEGO Minifigure collection, this is about a little web site and photo project I found whilst clicking a few links on other LEGO related web sites.
http://legomyphoto.wordpress.com/ is a project by a chap called Dan who resides in the States. He’s in the process of posting a LEGO minifigure photo every day for a whole year. These aren’t just the standard portrait type photos that I do of my minifigures, they are well thought out scenes involving several minifigures.
Well worth spending a while going through his shots. He’s also on Flickr too, as am I. You can see all Dan’s photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rattleandhum/ and if you’d like to see my photography, you can do so here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gazraa/
Keep up the excellent work Dan, I’ll be dropping by to see how the photos are coming along.

Minifigures Series 2 Count Dracula
Posted on | April 16, 2011 | Comments Off |
Get those crosses and garlic ready, Count Dracula is on the loose. This is the Dracula Minifigure from the series 2 collectors set that LEGO released what seems like ages ago now.
The hair and the cape collars are what makes this figure I think. The detail on the face and torso help too. I reckon it’s a great little figure and can already picture some halloween related photos coming a long with some of the other collectors edition figures that have come out a lot more recently.
Onaconda Farr

Onaconda Farr was a male Rodian and a member of the Senate. He was vocally critical of the decisions of the Chancellor during the separatist crisis and eventually left the Senate to help his home planet and joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
It was during this time that he joined forces to Nute Gunray and captured Senator Amidala. He then realised his error and turned on Nute Gunray and aided Amidala and Jar Jar Binks in arresting the Viceroy.
He had several dealings with Jedis Anakin Skywalker and Kit Fisto during the Clone Wars before he was killed by poison put in his drink by his aide for bringing the war to their planet.
Not a particularly well know character, so probably not a particularly valuable figure for my collection, but it can quite often be these that eventually become rarer as they aren’t collected when they are in better supply.

Nute Gunray

Nute Gunray was a Neimoidian who rose to power, eventually becoming Viceroy of the Trade Federation. It was while he was in power that he was involved in the invasion of Naboo where he created a blockade around the planet and used a droid army to seize control of the planet.
Although he was eventually defeated when a young Anakin Skywalker destroyed the droid control ship, he faced trial on Coruscant but was aided by Darth Tyranus, also known as Count Dooku, the secret apprentice to Darth Sidious, and retained his title of Viceroy.
It was Gunray, Sidious and Tyranus that formed the opposition to the Galactic Republic which started the 3 year Clone Wars.
Betrayed by Darth Sidious, Gunray was moved to a volcanic planet where the new apprentice Darth Vader was sent to dispose of the council members. Nute was the last of the council members to die at the hands of Darth Vader.
As a LEGO minifigure, he’s probably not a particularly popular one as he doesn’t feature too much in the films, but the figure has some good detail and as a key figure in the Clone Wars, should be a worthy addition to my collection.

Minifigures Series 3 Gorilla Suit
Posted on | March 8, 2011 | Comments Off |
This has got to be one of favourite minifigures in the collector series that LEGO has produced. It’s not meant to be just a gorilla, but a man in a gorilla suit. The detail is great too. The eyes are the eyes of the head underneath the gorilla head and there is a zip detail on the back too.
Take the gorilla head off and you’ve got a man’s head who is sweating and of course, the banana just finishes it off nicely.
A really good figure to have in my collection. The gorilla head has some good potential for some photos too. Storm Trooper fancy dress party maybe?

Admiral Ackbar
Posted on | March 7, 2011 | Comments Off |
Ackbar is a Mon Calamarian who came an Admiral in the Alliance military. He was born on the water world of Dac and was once an Imperial slave to Grand Moff Tarkin, presented to him as a gift after the resistance that Ackbar was leading failed to resist the Imperial forces that were trying to take over their planet.
Ackbar used the time as a slave well and learnt a lot about the Imperial ways from Tarkin and was actually well respected by Tarkin despite being his slave.
Ackbar commanded the Rebel fleet at the battle of Endor when the fleet was tricked into thinking the Death Star wasn’t operational. It was only when Han Solo and his squad knocked out the force field on the planet that the attack on the Death Star could be won.
The LEGO figure has the distinctive moulded head and a basic printed uniform. It’s one of the more iconic minifigures in my opinion. A good asset in my collection.
