When you get a popular character like Marvel’s super hero Spider Man you can guarantee that LEGO will produce more than one version. Just have a read of our recent post The Many Suits Of LEGO Batman.
The original versions released in 2002 (Blue Suit), 2003 (Wrestler Suit), and 2003 (Navy Suit) were based on the 2002 Spider Man film directed by Sam Raimi and featuring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, a high-school student who turns to crime fighting after developing spider-like powers, Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn (a.k.a. the Green Goblin), Kirsten Dunst as Peter’s love interest Mary Jane Watson, and James Franco as his best friend Harry Osborn. Further details of these minifigures can be found in our Spider Man Minifigure Guide.
In 2012 when LEGO renewed the Marvel licence we saw the arrival of the Black Suit Spider-Man, a San Diego Comic Con exclusive and a variation that appears in the Ultimate Spider Man TV show. Further details of these minifigures can be found in our Super Heroes Minifigure Guide.
Spider Man has been so popular as a LEGO theme that Christo, one of the top custom minifigure designers has released quite a number of minifigures including Evil Spider Man, Future Spider Man, Carnage and Venom, although we are delighted to announce the wait will soon be over for an official LEGO Venom.
So which one is your favourite Spider Man minifigure?
